HUUB To Host An Audience With John McAvoy

HUUB are proud to be supporting this year’s 'Derby Book Festival' with an event taking place on Tuesday 13th June where HUUB’s Dean Jackson will lead a conversation with World Record Holder and endurance triathlete John McAvoy. The Marketing Derby event is sold out, with lucky ticket holders waiting in anticipation to hear from the Ironman legend himself and all about his colourful past.

Hosted by Dean Jackson of HUUB, ticket holders will hear from John about the ultimate story of sporting salvation - how one of Britain's most-wanted men, sentenced to life in Belmarsh, has now become one of the UK's leading Ironman competitors and has plans to turn pro in 2017.

John's fascinating autobiography "Redemption: From Iron Bars to Ironman" tells how he was born into a notorious London crime family, his uncle Micky being one of the key players in the legendary Brinks-Mat gold bullion caper. John bought his first gun at 16 and carved out a lucrative career in armed robbery.

"From sharing a prison wing with notorious Islamist terrorist, Abu Hamza, to breaking nearly every UK indoor rowing record going, John McAvoy's is the quintessential story of redemption through sport."

John now commits his time inspiring others to lead a better way of life through the power of sport.

The event is hosted at University of Derby and organised the Derby Book Festival team.
